Fred Crisson

         Graduated from the High School of Performing Arts; attended the Manhattan School of Music.  Studied oboe and classical music with various principal oboists of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and the Metropolitan Opera Company of Milan, Italy.  Additional formal training on clarinet, saxophone, piano and guitar; recipient of scholarships from the Friends of Music and from the Board of Education of New York.  Worked as a student teacher in addition to performing with the Staten Island Stage Concert and Jazz bands; actively teaching guitar and bass over 30 years.  Previous member of 'Jazz Awareness', a musicians' group dedicated to informing and enlightening students of the history and development of jazz music, via grants.  Currently performing with 'Something Cool', a jazz/blues band at various restaurants and clubs on Staten Island and in New Jersey.

             Fred also teaches guitar classes for the New York City Department of Education, and is a member of the Multicultural Group that brings musical education to schools in this area.

            Current host and producer of the award-winning guitar instructional shows "Music and Scenes on Staten Island", "Fred's Guitars", "Guitar Central" and "Late Night Guitar", shown on Staten Island Cable Community Television/Verizon FIOS.  "Fred's Guitars" is also broadcast on Manhattan Neighborhood Network community television.  Performed as the strolling guitarist in the adult production of "Twelfth Night" at Sea View Playwrights' Theatre; was also involved in various productions of the Sea View Playwrights Childrens' Theatre, serving as co-director/musical arranger.  Hosted workshops featuring jazz musicology at area libraries and public spaces on Staten Island.  Current member of the faculty of the Dorothy Delson Kuhn Music Institute of the JCC of Staten Island where he teaches privately and conducts various jazz groups and classes. Also current instructor of guitar workshops for adults and children at Zion Lutheran Church on Staten Island.
